Old-fashioned good
Helsinki City Theatre’s Forest is old-fashioned theatre in a positive sense. Ostrovsky’s play is set in Russia in the 1800s, directed by Russian Yuri Solomin, whose compatriots are also behind the set and costumes.
Tiina Pirhonen and the excellent Pertti Koivula have an iron trio as their partners: Asko Sarkola, Esko Roine and Lasse Pöysti. Although the framework of the play is 140 years old, the longing for love, companionship, greed and dishonesty have not changed.
Performances on the big stage of the Helsinki City Theatre.
