THE YUPPIE SKY IS COLLAPSING

Overshooting, almost creating caricatures, Pasi Lampela draws a picture of the so-called successful people of our time, whose youth drew its ideas from the yuppies of the 1980s. That’s how exhaustively it should be described. The play The Team , written and directed by Lampela, mercilessly hits its mark on the small stage of the Helsinki City Theatre. Boundless narcissism, which is bolstered by the gossip press, the inner emptiness and loneliness of those who have run after money and success, and a lifestyle in which one’s own pleasure is the most important thing, all get their share.

The team’s entire working group does precise work in the middle of a close dialogue. Sara Paavolainen’s character is one of the most touching: towards the end of the play, she becomes more and more naked and, despite all her pride, extremely fragile.
