Review: Aleksi Suomesta
– –
“The story of a Finn who fought in Ukraine became a powerful drama. Ari-Pekka Lahti’s understated adaptation of Tuomas Kyrö’s non-fiction book Aleksi Suomesta is exceptionally successful.
It is very rare to see book dramatizations in theaters that can be said to work even better than the original work. Helsinki City Theatre’s Aleksi Suomesta is such a play.
The stylish play can be seen as a touching obituary for a Finn who died far too young. At the end of the premiere, both the actors and the audience wiped away their tears.”
