Review: Aleksi Suomesta
“Aleksi Suomista is a breathtaking performance that you rarely see (…)
In the stage version adapted by Ari-Pekka Lahti and directed by Tuomas Rinta-Panttila , Kyrö’s book has been stripped naked and dramatized just enough to be suitable for the theatre stage. For example, there are no scenes in the ensemble that are perceived in a traditional way, but instead “theatrical attempts to understand”, as the text reflected on the stage says.
These theatrical attempts are intertwined into an unbroken whole, a breathtaking narrative that moves forward like a bullet.
The story and the character of Aleksi are divided between two actors, Roderick Kabanga and Eetu Känkänen. Their collaboration is seamless, right from the first thoughtful steps.”
