“Wrinkled Roses – Fine Actors Bring Energy to the Celebration of Friendship at the Helsinki City Theatre
On the small stage of the Helsinki City Theatre, we will see gorgeous, mature, ordinarily unusual women, whose warm-hearted friendship can be felt all the way to the audience. (…)
“For once, this is a play where you don’t have to worry about not hearing or understanding the lines, that’s how brisk the articulation is. The main roles are played by wonderful filmmakers: Paula Sari Havas, Sirkka Leenamari Unho, Eini Aino Seppo and Helena Haaranen as Erika. It is a pleasure to follow the light movement and fast-paced energy of the main quartet.
Vappu Nalbantoglu’s numerous characters bring humour to the story. In women’s lives, men change, with the exception of Santeri Kinnunen’s charming Veli Makkonen, who can be seen in a slightly bigger role.
It’s no longer exceptional, but it still feels fresh to portray women in their seventies as sexual agents who are involved in society and also take over new tricks, starting with dating apps. On the other hand, it’s still quite exceptional to see so many mature women on stage at the same time, great!”
