Review: Dancer in the Dark

Lilla Teatern’s musical amazes – wow, what a star has been found for the main role!

So wow! Amazement is the main feeling after Lilla Teatern’s musical Dancer in the Dark.

First of all, we are used to seeing musicals on big stages. The stage at Lilla Teatern is not like that. There is no orchestra pit or revolving stage.

It doesn’t hinder or slow things down. The small stage has been able to accommodate more than a dozen actors and two musicians on top. Not to mention the absolutely excellent sets.

Another cause for astonishment is the actress of the main role, Lumi Aunio. He takes over the stage from the first seconds and shines almost non-stop for almost three hours. The other actors are overshadowed by him. What an intensity and, above all, what a singing voice he has!

Aunio is a perfect choice for the lead role, where the range of emotions is insane. There is love, hate, joy and sorrow.
