Review: Skymning 41 – berättelsen om Molly och Henry
Kjell Westö’s war drama a hit at Lilla Teatern
Brilliant acting performances bring the people of the Interim Peace to life on stage. The direction and dramatization are also of a high standard.
Sometimes it happens and everything just works out.
For this production, it doesn’t feel like an obvious lot. Turning Kjell Westö’s massive novel about the politically precarious interim peace into a theatrical performance is not an easy thing to do, and at first I think with concern about how this can become both boring and sentimental in the worst case.
But it quickly becomes clear that we are dealing with something of a hit. The talent David Sandqvist creates a performance that manages to be exciting, funny, thought-provoking, touching, yes, even a little romantic, which should not be underestimated!
