Review: Gravity

“Gravity is like wind and sun and fresh rain for a soul exhausted by the lack of dance. Choreographer Jarkko Mandelin has got the eight dancers of Helsinki Dance Company and Kinetic Orchestra up and running at a breakneck pace. The emphasized physicality is effortless and soft and creates an image of infinite ease.

The entire work breathes naturally from beginning to end. It rolls and spins, hits the ground, jumps into the air, crawls, runs, and dives. No backwater stops the flow. At the same time, the pace creates an incomprehensible sense of calm.”
