The history of violence impresses and engages

Lilla Teatern is the first in Finland to stage the award-winning French author Édouard Louis. In Jakob Höglund’s hands, The History of Violence is at times both funny and enjoyable, despite its dark theme.

“Patrik Kumpulainen makes a delicate interpretation of the young Eddy, trapped between his longing for dance and the surrounding macho culture. Theatre Academy students Andreas Kvisgaard, Salomon Z. Patrick and Maria Lura Skrudland are convincing as the comrades who also become perpetrators; Skrudland in particular fascinates with her precise, androgynous expression and her boyish facial expressions when she plays male roles.”
