Review: Humiseva harju
Hot love, cold world
What an atonement! A ramp that reaches from the stage to the auditorium captures the audience as part of the story of Humming Ridge, the unhappy love story of the raucous Cathy (Oona Airola) and the orphan boy Heathcliff (Markus Järvenpää). The strict morality, economic realities and spirals of revenge in the world of the time make the heart’s choices impossible. The script by Scottish Jo Clifford has shaken off all unnecessary things from Emily Brontë’s masterpiece. Even the costumes fade the time and emphasize the clear and hard core of the story, the sad consequences of a loveless upbringing. Now I feel like picking up a book that was published 219 years ago.
