Kinky Boots is not just a spectacular musical. Samuel Harjanne’s Helsinki
The interpretation directed by the City Theatre is a profound story of difference
and the courage to be of any size, color, or age; straight,
gay or non-binary. The central characters of the story are from their father
Charlie, who inherited a shoe factory, and Lola/Simon, who loves to pretend to be a woman.

Lola’s arrival at the factory even causes bullying in a masculine group of men,
but even at the risk of that, Charlie hires him to save the factory from bankruptcy.
Petrus Kähkönen once again shows his adaptability as Charlie
and his talent as an actor and singer. A newer acquaintance is Lolana sparkling
Lauri Mikkola. About him, it can be said: a star has been lit!
