“Many times I have had reason to praise HKL’s well-oiled stage machinery, but now the clockwork operated with unprecedented precision. (…) Together with set designer Peter Ahlqvist, Harjanne has constructed a scenic space, which enables every shift on both the macro and micro levels. Particularly ingenious was the full use of the considerable depth of the City Theatre stage, and the second act’s great ‘repentance and improvement’ scene – as meticulously as spectacularly choreographed by Simon Hardwick – created an almost breathtaking illusion of a square.”
