Jakob Höglund bids farewell to Lilla Teatern with an entertaining gender role comedy

The traditional gender roles of working life are reversed in Maja Zade’s play Status Quo. Höglund’s playful direction tone gives the performance a nice flow.

It is exciting to see how Jakob Höglund has developed his own personal directorial imprint during his six years at Lilla Teatern in Helsinki.

In his farewell direction as artistic director, he reuses many of his old tricks, set design solutions and puppets and a playful tone, elements that have become something of his trademark.

As the last play, Höglund has chosen German Maja Zade’s Status Quo, a text with large doses of comedy and a dialogue that feels British. The lines are short, the dialogues are quick and smooth, the scenes are compressed.
