Review: När Baba faller i poolen är kl. 23.47
“Antonia Atarah performs an energetic monologue opposite a silent Elihú Galván, who embodies a rootless father’s longing for a home.
Lilla Teatern’s production could be described as a monologue for two. Antonia Atarah delivers the text with tremendous energy, switching back and forth between the other members of the family.
Elihú Galván’s silent Baba, in turn, serves as the anchor of the production. He is a powerful presence on stage, withdrawing into his shell as he practises the rabbit dance in front of the mirror. Gradually, his behaviour becomes increasingly incomprehensible to the family, prompting his adult children and wife to discuss it in the family group chat.
This stands in stark contrast to the imaginative and energetic father whom the daughter recalls in her flashbacks to the family’s life together.”
