Ester Nilsson is a rational person in a sensible relationship. She has everything under control, knows what she wants and trains purposefully for her next marathon. But when she meets the artist Hugo Rask and is seduced by him, she falls so deeply in love that she loses her footing. She wants to understand why he seduced her if he does not love her or want to share his life with her. And if he has made love to her, does he not have a responsibility to at least answer her questions?
Karin Parrot Jonzon’s playful stage adaptation of Egenmäktigt förfarande is every bit as candid, perceptive and self-ironic as Lena Andersson’s award-winning novel. Linda Zilliacus plays Ester Nilsson, one of the iconic literary characters of the 2010s. She is a modern, independent and strong woman who refuses to be a victim or feel guilty, yet against her better judgement allows herself to be driven by obsession – plunging her into a drama about passion and power, freedom and reason.
