Forever Young
Ramppipantterit come to lifeNote: No longer in repertoire!
The story takes place a few decades into the future. The Arena Stage has been converted into a care home, where Helsinki City Theatre’s actors spend their days under the watchful eye of a strict nurse. But whenever her back is turned, the grey-haired stage veterans spring to life. How wonderful to have the whole gang together again, reminiscing about old times! And they have plenty to remember, as they have all celebrated their 90th birthdays.
Their memories may sometimes fail them, and their legs may no longer lift as high as they did in the Main Stage musicals of the early 2000s, but time has done nothing to diminish their singing voices! And there are songs galore – the greatest hits from every decade since the 1960s!
Forever Young is like a care-home version of Vain elämää, with each actor taking their turn as the day’s featured artist while the group reminisces about the wild days of their youth.
What is life like now, when the days are filled simply with being? Do we become old once enough years have passed? Or do we, deep down, remain who we have always been – forever young?
This exuberant yet wistful musical comedy will help you come to terms with ageing – or at least better understand your parents’ taste in music. You will laugh and find yourself almost singing along as the Arena Stage rings out with the best-known hits of recent decades. You will discover that being young is wonderful – even when you are old!
The performance features a host of Finnish and international hits from different decades, including Taiteilijaelämää, Stayin’ Alive, Kaunis, rietas, onnellinen, Kaksi puuta, Forever Young, Kohtalon tango, Oon voimissain
Performance rights are administered by Agency North and Colombine Teaterförlag.
