Hyenans dagar is based in part on Saara Turunen’s novel of the same name.
The work delves into a story of reproduction and one woman’s experience of fertility treatments and her journey towards having a child. It follows this process while portraying a period in life when the boundary between the personal and the societal begins to blur. Beneath the surface, the work explores questions of the body, control and the constant need to cope on one’s own. The drama unfolds not only on stage but also in the audience’s own thoughts and reflections. Rather than offering ready-made answers, the performance presents scenes, moments and glimpses.
As in Saara Turunen’s previous productions, music and visual imagery play a central role. Turunen combines humour and melancholy in her own distinctive way.
Hyenans dagar is for anyone who has ever strived for something, faced setbacks or been thrust into an unfamiliar world.
