Karpo on asiaa consists of real stories told in different episodes of the TV series of the same name. In Karpo’s programs, the main role is played by a private Finnish person, their story, experiences and fate. The conflicts that life brings to the front are not feared or avoided – they are brought up for consideration. Let’s talk about it and wholeheartedly.
Hannu Karpo (b. 1942) is one of the best-known figures in Finnish television journalism. His unique and extensive life’s work has opened up a wide range of wonderful human destinies to Finnish TV viewers. The connection that opens up to Finnish lifestyles and feelings through Karpo’s programs is honest, direct and emotional.
Karpo on asiaa is Professor of Acting Kristian Smeds’ first artistic directing at the Theatre Academy. In the performance, eight master’s degree acting students from the Theatre Academy take to the stage, carrying with them the honest ethos of Hannu Karpo’s documentary world, its colourful people and their unique energy.
The performance is a co-production of the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and the Kotka City Theatre.
