The play is based on Johanna Thydell’s acclaimed novel of the same name, which has also been made into a film. Jenna is like any other teenager who worries about who her best friend is, what she should look like, and why her crush doesn’t notice her. However, there is one sorrow that stands out above the rest. Jenna’s mother has cancer. Despite its serious subject matter, Starry Sky is a bright, fresh and life-affirming play, the sincerity and realism of which delight audiences of all ages. The critically acclaimed The Stars Shine on the Ceiling (Kattona tähtitaivas) is now staged in Finnish with its premiere on 27 March. It is a story about friendship, secrets and about the hardest difficult.
