Written and directed by Kari Heiskanen, Kekkonen and the Kremlin Dance School brings Kekkonen to the stage in the midst of the 1961 note crisis.
Kekkonen wants to secure a future as president and ruthlessly use his relations with Russia to train domestic politics. Russia, however, is an unpredictable dance partner, and at the peak of the note crisis, Kekkonen himself is far away from his home country, in Hawaii.
The new Finnish drama starring Eero Aho tells the story of an iconic statesman in the midst of major historical turning points and opens up an interesting perspective on the absurd political culture of Kekkonen’s time.
