Kolme teosta kontaktista
Huom! Poistunut ohjelmistosta!
Studio Pasila will premiere a set of three works that deal with contact and physicality in different ways, featuring premieres for Helsinki Dance Company by Mirva Mäkinen and Sari Palmgren and a duet by Saku Mäkelä and Riia Kivimäki in collaboration with Cirko – Center for New Circus. The art of dance and contemporary circus collide in the treatment of virtuoso performers!
Luodos
Luodos is a tapestry of three dancers and musicians about the formation of meanings related to contact and their unraveling. Contact improvisation, which is used as the movement material of the work, refers to a physical dialogue with two or more people. The movement of dancers is related to physical laws, such as gravity, speed of movement and friction, as well as to the sonic space created by the musician.
Mirva Mäkinen is a teacher, dancer and choreographer working extensively in the field of dance. She graduated with a doctorate in dance in 2018. During his career, Mäkinen has performed and taught in about 40 different countries.

Soidinmenot
Courtship is a complex system that uses many senses and prepares you for such a physiological tuning that mate selection is possible. The undertone of the work is a lonely person who rumours about his partner all his life, whose partner is never found, as the others in the area have already become extinct.
Sari Palmgren has worked as a choreographer and dancer in Finland and abroad for twenty years, most recently as a house choreographer at Zodiak – Center for New Dance in 2019-2021. Palmgren’s latest works have dealt with man’s relationship with nature, the animal side, mortality and the state of the environment. Palmgren has worked with various artists in collaboration with various dance performances, dance film, theatre, site-specific performances and community art.

Cirko & RISA performers: GLG
GLG is a surreal journey in which two people collide, intertwine and let go of their own, the other’s and the environment’s boundaries. The work, which boldly balances in the intricacies of humanity, takes the viewer towards an unknown destination, where influences from the visual arts, contemporary dance and contemporary circus merge, building new meanings layer by layer.
RISA (Riia Kivimäki and Saku Mäkelä) combines dance and partner acrobatics into a seamless weave of movement language created by two different artists. We end up on previously unexperienced paths when dance reaches towards new dimensions and meets acrobatics.
Concept, choreography and performers: Riia Kivimäki and Saku Mäkelä
GLG is a co-production with Cirko – Center for New Circus. The creation of the work has also been supported by La Briqueterie – CDCN Val-de-Marne.
