The same trio who wrote the hit comedy Näytelmä, joka menee pieleen (Arena Stage 2022–2023) are back with another utterly madcap romp. Before long, you won’t even know what you’re laughing at – but you’ll be laughing, and loudly!

Helsinki, 1958. Prisoner Roger Rahikainen has plotted the heist of the century with prison guard Tauno Kyykkä. Their target is Hakaniemen Osakepankki, where an enormous diamond is being kept.

Meanwhile, at Hakaniemen Osakepankki, bank manager Jorma Kuusikko and his staff are taking the bank’s security systems to the extreme to keep the priceless diamond safe.

The bank manager’s daughter Aino has met a charming new boyfriend, Veikka. The real trouble begins when Veikka joins Roger Rahikainen’s gang of robbers – especially as Rahikainen also happens to be Aino’s ex. They’re all con artists, turning the entire plan into an unbelievable chain of unexpected twists and mishaps.

Komedia pankkiryöstöstä is a precision-timed, edge-of-your-seat farce in which the nostalgic Helsinki of yesteryear meets a dazzlingly inventive plot and criminally funny twists, all in the expert hands of director Samuel Harjanne.
