Moominvalley is bubbling with social trends, they follow one another and sweep the inhabitants with them. The Moomin family and their friends try out different attitudes to life. Should you invest in conscientiousness, hedonism, entrepreneurship, fame or psychoanalysis? Or simply a maid?
In Tove Jansson’s extensive production, the comic books form a world of their own – darker, more grown-up and more crass.
Crisis and Disaster in Moominvalley is a newly dramatised musical theatre performance based on Tove Jansson’s comic strips. In the performance, Jansson’s fantastic comic book characters come to life with the help of award-winning Heini Maaranen’s puppet theatre aesthetics and Jakob Höglund’s imaginative direction.
Moomins for adults? Or children? Or both?
The performance follows the more adult story tracks and themes of the original series, but at the same time it is a fun visual and musical feast that children can also enjoy, as long as they have the patience to follow the theatre for just over two and a half hours. Age recommendation 10 years.

Tove Jansson’s comics on stage for the first time!
Kris och katastrof i Moominvalley is a musical theatre performance based on Tove Jansson’s original comics. In the performance, Jansson’s wonderful comic book characters come to life with the help of award-winning Heini Maaranen’s puppet theatre aesthetics and Jakob Höglund’s imaginative direction.
The beloved Moomin characters reflect on existence, identity and the state of the world in accordance with the Moomin philosophy – should we invest in obligations, hedonism, entrepreneurship, fame or psychoanalysis? Or a maid?
In Jansson’s extensive production, comic books form their own adult world. The performance is faithful to the content of the original works, but children will also enjoy the visuals and music of the work, as long as they have enough patience to follow the 2.5-hourperformance. Age recommendation: 10 years.

The performance will be subtitled in Finnish, Swedish and English via the Subtitle Mobile mobile application. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play under the name Subtitle Mobile. During the screening, you can follow the subtitles on your own phone after downloading the app. Each presentation has its own code that is entered into the application before the performance:
