A comedic duel where quick twists and turns guarantee that you never know who will have the upper hand. And what about the wife?
The Loan Wife tells the story of an ordinary man, Antti Jaskari (Pekka Strang), who goes to the bank to apply for a loan for an acute shortage of money. However, the bank manager (Sampo Sarkola) decides not to grant the loan. Without hesitation, Antti resorts to harsher measures and presents an unexpected and quite personal threat from the average loan applicant, the consequences of which would be catastrophic for the bank manager’s marital happiness. This is the starting point for a real comedic duel, where quick turns and surprising circumstances ensure that you never know who will be on top next. The play was written by the Catalan Jordi Galceran, who also wrote the audience success Grönholms metod/Pudotuspeli, which was seen at Lilla Teatern in 2006-2007. In August, Galceran was awarded the Ceres Award for Best Playwright in 2014 for his play The Borrowed Wife.
