Alice in the Land of Gambling is a completely new version of Lewis Carroll’s well-known classic fairy tale.

 

In a play written by Jyri Numminen, sisters Liisa and Leena are caught secretly making purchases with their mother’s credit card and have an argument. Liisa’s friend Jossu wants to comfort Liisa and convinces her to try the video game Wonderland. A game where you can be anyone and do anything!

In the wonderful virtual world, Liisa and Jossu meet other players, such as the cat-like Virnu, the moderator Kani_Valkoisen and the funny duo Mara and Luru. And of course, Wonderland also has quite a variety of different game characters, from Goofy the Hatter to Logitoukka and Boris Lyllerö. Alice plays and collects in-game currency, unaware that a faulty update has made the game dangerous – the Queen of Hearts now dominates virtual reality! And soon Liisa is accused of breaking the rules of the game…

At the heart of the performance are the captivating Shed youth, whose energy and passion shines from the stage in a unique way. Some of the material for the performance has been inspired by material produced by the young people themselves.

The stage will be shared with the Shedi members by the theatre’s own professional actors Kai Lähdesmäki Kani_Valkoisena and Tiina Peltonen as the Queen of Hearts.
