The Surveyor’s Story is a tense, emotionally appealing monologue about an incredible escape and man’s incomprehensible ability to survive, and about the many emotions caused by fleeing his homeland and being separated from his family. The Surveyor’s Story is one person’s story of a life-threatening journey to a foreign country. The story is a human suspense drama in which love and faith in the better give people the strength to cope with the impossible. Surveyor Tran Minh Canh came to Finland in the late 1970s as one of the first Vietnamese boat refugees. Christer Liljelund has documented his escape from Vietnam to Finland based on real events. Asko Sarkola performed The Story of the Land Surveyor with great success at Lilla Teatern and then on tour from 1992 to 1996.
