Maria Brauns äktenskap
Based on a film by Rainer Werner FassbinderNote: No longer in repertoire!
Maria and Hermann Braun marry in the midst of an Allied bombing raid. The very next day, they are torn apart—first by the war and then by imprisonment, when Hermann takes the blame for a murder committed by Maria. Left to fend for herself among the ruins of post-war Germany, where hunger dictates morality, Maria enters the world of business, wielding seduction and intelligence as her weapons.
With each passing day, her appetite for power, money and status grows. Maria Brauns äktenskap is also a love story about an unfulfilled love, its feelings repressed and denied until they ultimately have devastating consequences.
Subtitled in Finnish and Swedish.
