You know that feeling when you need to get a task requiring total concentration out of the way, only for the most irritating person in the world to suddenly appear underfoot, unloading their midlife crisis and marital problems while demanding sympathy, attention and empathy? Try getting any work done then.

Palkkamurhaajan painajainen is a finely tuned farce about two men staying in adjoining hotel rooms. One is a professional killer; the other is a suicidal wreck whose wife has left him.

The internationally renowned hitman’s assignment is to eliminate a troublesome witness leaving the courthouse opposite the hotel. In the next room is a small-town newspaper photographer contemplating suicide after discovering that his wife has run off with her psychiatrist. Naturally, it falls to the hitman to look after this suicidal nuisance wallowing in a midlife crisis before he can get on with his own job.

Much to his dismay, the assassin’s new best friend also brings with him a colourful assortment of other eager meddlers – hotel staff, a doctor, an ex-wife and the police. Each new arrival sends the increasingly absurd situations spiralling towards the uproarious climax of this chaotic and irresistibly entertaining farce.
