“The performance Love Letters aims to strip the theatrical machine out of the text. There is only a stage, a table, two chairs and two actors who read the play and take instinctive impulses from it.

Many actors who have interpreted the play, including Mia Farrow, Christopher Walken, Elizabeth Taylor, Tom Hanks, Brian Dennehy and Ali McGraw, have said that this play, or rather a reading drama, should not be performed many times in a row. The text should never become too familiar to the actors playing it.”
