Sutinaa ja säätöä
Note: No longer in repertoire!
Directed by comedy queen Sari Siikander, Sutinaa ja säätöä is a flirtatious farce in which the characters cling desperately to the façade of marriage while plunging headlong into the deep end with such glorious abandon that the audience can only laugh until the tears flow!
Sylvia (Pihla Penttinen) and her secret lover Beau (Sauli Suonpää) have arrived at a country house for their annual illicit birthday rendezvous. This time, Sylvia drops a bombshell: she has left her husband. By telegram!
And that is only the beginning, because next, their spouses (Emilia Sinisalo and Heikki Ranta) descend on the very same house! A veritable Pandora’s box of secrets bursts open, sending both the characters’ identities and their ideas about marriage into a dizzying spin.
Premiered on Broadway in 2023, Sutinaa ja säätöä is deliciously set in 1920s England, but its twists and turns – and the people caught up in them – feel utterly contemporary: recognisable, relatable, lovable in all their absurdity and achingly funny.
Sutinaa ja säätöä is a fresh new relationship farce: two hours bubbling with sizzling flirtation and pitch-black secrets, packed with surprises for the audience – and for the characters themselves.
