Tuula ja Pirkko are coming to Studio Pasila!

Tuula ja Pirkko are a sprightly duo from Ala-Vittula, with a combined age of around 170. They do not actually like each other very much, but for some unknown reason, they have spent their entire lives practically joined at the hip. Contrary to what people might think about the elderly, age has not mellowed them. Quite the opposite. Tuula loves Cindy Crawford and social distancing, while Pirkko has no time for her grandchildren’s clay models or drawings – and she still cannot bake. Due to their difficult personalities, Tuula and Pirkko were left in the peace and quiet of Covid quarantine long ago, giving them all the time in the world to live exactly as they please.

After a series of twists and turns, Tuula and Pirkko decide to dust off their suitcases, haul their mortal remains to the Finavia ticket counter, pay their aviation tax for perhaps the last time and set off for the sunny Costa of Fuengirola. Before long, in the shadow of Toro, they find themselves having perhaps the most important conversations of their lives. Along the way, they take aim at both their daughters’ entrenched attitudes towards their mothers and patriarchal macho culture. Will Fuengirola’s beaches offer up romance, a luxury yacht or a strand of Sean Connery’s chest hair?

The show is a celebration of silliness, joie de vivre, free will, streams of consciousness, independence, daft jokes, dreams, humanity, our innate urge to conquer unknown territory and the importance of self-determination.
