Venus in Furs is an imaginative comedy that condenses into a sensual thriller. Director and playwright Thomas organizes an audition to find a suitable actress for the female lead in his text. There is no good enough candidate and the event has ended. The pouring rain throws in a woman who is late for an audition but so persistent that Thomas is forced to give her a chance. The woman’s name happens to be Vanda, the same as the name of the role she is applying for. Strangely enough, Vanda knows the entire text by heart, even though it has not been made public. Vanda also seems to know a surprising amount about Thomas. The audition is prolonged and turns into a battlefield of erotic power and intellectual superiority. Thomas is the director, but Vanda seems to be in control of the situation.
