Yllätysvieras is a razor-sharp, relatable and riotously funny comedy. It hilariously reveals where excessive politeness can lead us – and what can happen when we are too embarrassed to speak our minds.

Peter and Debbie are celebrating their wedding anniversary on a cruise, enjoying some quality time together away from their children, who are deep in the throes of teenage angst. Amid the carefree holiday atmosphere, they meet Elsa, a charmingly brash, confident stranger who is soon treating them like old friends. They exchange contact details – after all, it would be lovely to meet up sometime.

Admittedly, Elsa is a little overenthusiastic. Perhaps a little too friendly. Not really our sort of person. But then again. Why not? It’s hardly as if we’ll ever actually see her again.

Peter and Debbie return home, and the excitement of the cruise gradually gives way to middle-class suburban life and endless battles with their sullen teenagers.
Until, completely out of the blue, Elsa turns up in town. She has decided to pay them a visit and will be on their doorstep any minute.

Peter and Debbie frantically google their guest – who is she, anyway? The search results are shocking. They discover something about Elsa that puts their hospitality and good manners to the ultimate test. How on earth can they get rid of her?

The brilliant leading trio in this brand-new comedy are Sanna Saarijärvi, Vuokko Hovatta and Santeri Kinnunen.
