Mikko Paloniemi has studied at the Theatre Academy and since 2005 has worked as a dancer mainly in Helsinki. Paloniemi has danced in the works of several Finnish choreographers, such as Tommi Kitti, Sari Palmgren, Carl Knif, Jarkko Mandelin and Eeva Muilu. Paloniemi was a member of the Karttunen Kollektiv group from 2009 to 2014, performing in numerous works by Jyrki Karttunen, the most notable of which is a remake of Karttunen’s classic solo work Fairy.
Paloniemi first worked at the Helsinki Dance Company in 2007-2008. Paloniemi returned to the group in 2014 when Karttunen started as the group’s leader. At Helsinki Dance Company, Paloniemi has performed in nearly twenty dance performances and several musicals. His latest work is Valtteri Raekallio’s Lomonosov engine (2022).
