What does the neighborhood look like through the eyes of a child? Kindergarten children’s thoughts turned into a touring theatre performance

Helsinki City Theatre's audience's new touring children's theatre performance My Neighbor is based on thoughts collected from kindergarten children in Malmi, sounds and drawings. The performance is about moving to a new home, about nervousness, courage and finding new friends. My neighbor gets premiere at Malmitalo on 11 September.

The sense of security crumbles in a housing company in Töölö – The Unauthorised to premiere at Lillan / The Feeling of Safety Crumbles in Töölöläisessa taloyhtiössa – The Unauthorised Ones premieres in Lillan

Helsinki City Theatre's autumn at Lilla Teatern begins with Swedish horror writer John Ajvide Lindqvist's contemporary satire The Unauthorized. With warm humour, the play depicts current topics such as insecurity and fear of the unknown. The performance is David Sandqvist's directorial debut as Lilla Teatern's artistic director and the ensemble includes Sampo Sarkola, who has not been on stage much since 2016.

Människa värdighet temat i etning som inbörjar tre svenskspråkiga teatrars nya samarbete / Human dignity as a theme in the performance, which launches a new collaboration between three Swedish-language theatres

Helsinki City Theatre, Wasa Theatre and Turku Swedish Theatre are starting a three-year collaboration in which the theatres in turn produce a performance that will then be performed in the other locations. First up is the performance When Baba Falls in the Pool is at. 23.47, which premieres on October 29 at Lilla Teatern. Spanish-Swedish author Astrid Menasanch Tobieson's play deals with themes such as class, racism and human dignity.

Based on Iida Turpeinen's bestselling novel (Publisher S&S, 2023), Living follows the story of an extinct species from the 1700s to the present day. In the audio-visually impressive co-production of the Helsinki City Theatre and the WAUHAUS collective, a group of people who have lived at turning points in the history of natural science march onto the stage. The play, dramatised by Pipsa Longa, will premiere on 3 September on a small stage.

Top comedians’ new Finnish relationship comedy is inspired by a reality TV series

The routine relationship between an enthusiastic wife and a sensible engineer husband gets a new kick from a guerrilla camp when Home Troops premieres on September 2 at the Arena stage. The fast-paced premiere is created by award-winning comedians, actor-screenwriters Niina Lahtinen and Joonas Nordman, and director Anna Dahlman. This is the trio's first theatre collaboration.
