Ekokompassi

Helsinki City Theatre uses the Ekokompassi environmental management system. Ekokompassi is based on practical, concrete measures. It comprises ten criteria that we are collectively committed to meeting.

Through our operations, we aim to reduce our environmental impact. Ecological values and practices are also key criteria when selecting our partners. We incorporate environmental thinking into all our production processes.

As part of the Ekokompassi project, the theatre has drawn up an environmental policy. Guided by Ekokompassi experts, trained environmental coordinators from different departments have identified concrete areas for improvement, measures and targets to reduce our environmental impact. Progress is monitored and reported annually, and the targets are reviewed at least every three years.

Our key areas for environmental improvement are:

• Energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy
• Environmental responsibility in procurement
• Use of raw materials and material efficiency
• Raising environmental awareness among customers, partners and staff

We can all make a difference and take action for the environment! Recycling waste and reducing water and electricity consumption and the amount of paper used for printing are simple steps that everyone can take.
