Fars drar publik till Lillan / Lilla Teatern’s farce interests the audience

Lilla Teatern’s solid father’s tradition continues with The Marriage of Figaro. Three weeks before the premiere, half of the tickets are already sold. Jakob Höglund directs the performance, which premieres on October 19.

“The play is 237 years old, but even though the world we live in has changed, people seem to be completely the same. Love, lust and still make us just as crazy. You just have to laugh about it,” says director Jakob Höglund, who also notes that it is with great excitement and with slightly shaking legs that he makes his farce debut at Lilla Teatern.

The Marriage of Figaro is a relationship comedy with elements of both bedchamber farce and tragedy. We follow three couples in different dependencies to each other. It’s about status, class and gender roles, but above all love.

The production is very playful and musical. In Tony Sikström’s sound design, romantic harpsichord and strings meet newly composed electronic pop music.

Swedish set and costume designer Sven Haraldsson, with whom Jakob Höglund has often collaborated, brings pastel-coloured rococo clothes, large wigs and a lot of glitter to the stage at Lilla Teatern.

Cast: Minni Gråhn, Joonas Heikkinen, Pia Runnakko, Ursula Salo, Alexander Wendelin and Joachim Wigelius.

The director and choreography is Jakob Höglund. Pierre Caron de Beaumarchais’ script has been adapted by Susanne Marko and Philip Zandén. The translation is Allan Bergstrand’s. Set design and costumes have been designed by Sven Haraldsson. Ville Seivo has instructed slapstick and fights. Lighting design by Ville Aaltonen and sound design by Tony Sikström. The mask is by Pia Kähkönen and the dramaturg is Henna Piirto.

The play The Marriage of Figaro by Beaumarchais was a great success at its world premiere in 1784 and shortly thereafter the play was set to music by Mozart, which became one of his most beloved operas.

Alcoholic beverages are allowed in the auditorium for selected performances. These performances have an age limit of 18 years.

The performance is subtitled in Finnish and Swedish via the Subtitle mobile app.

Lilla Teatern’s farce is of interest to the audience

Lilla Teatern’s distinguished farce tradition continues with the performance Figaros bröllop (The Marriage of Figaro). Already half of the tickets have been sold with three weeks left until the premiere.  The performance, directed by Jakob Höglund, will premiere on October 19 at Lilla Teatern.

“The play was written 237 years ago, and even though the world around us has changed, people seem to stay the same. Love, lust and desire are still driving us crazy. You can’t help but laugh at it,” says director Jakob Höglund. Höglund also says that he will make his farce debut at Lilla Teatern with great excitement and slightly shaky legs.

The Marriage of Figaros is a relationship drama with elements of both a bedchamber farce and a tragedy. It follows three couples who have different relationships with each other, dealing with power, class differences, gender roles and, above all, love.

The execution of the performance is very playful and full of music. In Tony Sikström’s sound design, the romantic harpsichord and string instruments meet fresh electronic pop music.

Swedish set designer and costume designer Sven Haraldsson , who has often worked with Jakob Höglund, brings pastel-coloured rococo costumes, large wigs and a lot of glitter to the stage of Lilla Teatteri.

Cast: Minni Gråhn, Joonas Heikkinen, Pia Runnakko, Ursula Salo, Alexander Wendelin and Joachim Wigelius.

Directed and choreographed by Jakob Höglund, script by Pierre Caron de Beaumarchais, arranged by Susanne Marko and Philip Zandén, translated by Allan Bergstrand, set and costume design by Sven Haraldsson, choreography of slapstick and fight scenes by Ville Seivo, lighting design by Ville Aaltonen, sound design by Tony Sikström, make-up by Pia Kähkönen, dramaturg Henna Piirto.

Beaumarchais’ play The Wedding of Figaros was a great success when it was published in 1784, and soon after Mozart composed it into one of his most beloved operas.

In selected performances, alcoholic beverages may be brought into the auditorium. The age limit for those performances is 18 years.

The performance will be subtitled in Finnish and Swedish using the Subtitle mobile application.
