Favourite performances return to the Helsinki City Theatre’s repertoire
Audience and critical acclaims, the musical Once and the popular comedies The Play That Goes Wrong and The Security Guard will return to the Helsinki City Theatre’s repertoire in early 2023.
The musical Once, which charmed audiences and critics on the stage of Lilla Teatern, returns to the repertoire from 19 January. The beautiful story of love and music is directed by Jakob Höglund. The actors and musicians of the musical, which will be performed in Finnish, will be the entire original 12-member ensemble, with Emma Klingenberg and Tuukka Leppänen in the lead roles.
The musical Once, based on the popular Irish film (2007) that has conquered Broadway and the West End, premiered in Finnish on January 20, 2022 at Lilla Teatern. The musical was performed in Swedish at Lillan in the autumn of 2020.
The Play That Goes Wrong will return to the Arena stage from 25 January. Directed by Pentti Kotkaniemi , the comedy, which freshly renews the farce genre, is set in the world of theatre, and its roles are played by Alex Anton, Joel Hirvonen, Pekka Huotari, Santeri Kinnunen, Matti Rasila, Jari Pehkonen, Eija Vilpas and Sanna-June Hyde.
The comedy hit, which became a worldwide success from a play originally written by the British writer trio as a theatre school thesis, premiered in Finnish on the Arena stage on 9 March 2022.
The Security Man, starring Martti Suosalo and Katja Küttner, premiered in October 2021 on the Arena stage. Next winter, this sitcom, which offers seamless cooperation between top actors and the joy of performing, will return to the repertoire and move to the stage of Studio Pasila from 20 February.
Written and directed by Pasi Lampela, the play depicts the collision of two people representing different worlds. What kind of challenges arise when a wealthy industrial family’s son and a professionally proud security guard suddenly have to spend time within four walls?
