Iikka Kivi’s solo performance Spede is dead will visit the Arena stage
Stand-up comedian Iikka Kivi, known from Balance of Laughter and About a Week News, will make his first solo tour in the autumn of 2019 Iikka Kivi – Spede on kuolu. In Helsinki, the performance can be seen on 2 November on the Arena stage of the Helsinki City Theatre.
In his first solo performance, screenwriter and stand-up comedian Iikka Kivi mercilessly grabs our time by the shoulders and sits down for a good chat. Where did the optimism of the 2000s, when Nokia was on the rise, Finland did well in rallying, and everything was so safe and well? The solo show Spede on kunud tells the story of the difficulties of adapting to an impossible period of history in an alternately hilarious and strikingly tragic way.
“The title of the performance , Spede is dead, is intrinsically linked to the present in our society and the growth of people in the same transformation. I don’t want to go into the title of the performance too much, because the audience should also be left with the joy of discovery. The most important thing is that people laugh. That’s why comedy is made, I’m not doing a lecture tour. My goal is that we can spend a short moment together with quite serious topics – and this can be done by having a lot of fun at the gig,” says Iikka Kivi.
The visit will be carried out in cooperation with W&T Comedy . In addition to Helsinki, the performance will be seen on the stages of Kuopio, Oulu, Ylivieska, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Joensuu, Pori and Turku during October and December.
Kivi, who lives in Oulu, has worked as a full-time stand-up comedian since 2012. She rose to national prominence in 2014 after winning the Balance of Laughter competition organised by TV2. Later, Kivi has worked as a producer at stand-up festivals and written scripts for the satire shows Noin viikko uutiset and Yle Leaks, among others. He has also worked as a journalist.
