How have the restrictions in cultural life affected the theatre, and what do we have to look forward to? Lilla Teatern launches the podcast series REPLIK! to get answers to these questions and to open the door to the theatre during the lockdown.
“Since we were forced to close down the performance activities, we have wanted to find new ways to communicate with the audience,” says Lilla Teatern’s artistic director Jakob Höglund.
The REPLIK! podcast, which is produced by journalist Janne Strang in collaboration with Lilla Teatern, includes artist talks, play presentations, thoughts from a theatre in a state of emergency and news for the long-awaited theatre autumn.
“The focus of the podcast is on the future, the repertoire, new projects and the opportunities and new ways of thinking that have opened,” says Janne Strang.
In the first part of REPLIK! we meet Paavo Westerberg and Alexander Wendelin, director and debuting lead actor respectively, who during the spring rehearsed Lillan’s big autumn premiere The Strange Event with the Dog at Night.
In the second part, which will be released on Wednesday 14.4, Lilla Teatern’s artistic director Jakob Höglund and production manager at Östgötateatern Fanny Twardomanski talk about the musical project The Nordic Voice , which is now looking for musicians and lyricists who want to write the next big Nordic musical.

REPLY! podcast is produced by journalist Janne Strang in collaboration with Lilla Teatern. The podcasts include artist meetings, introductions to works, thoughts on theatre during the coronavirus pandemic and news about autumn performances.
“Despite the restrictions, the podcast focuses on the future, the upcoming programme, new projects and different ways of working and thinking,” says Janne Strang.
In the first, bilingual REPLIK! podcast, we meet director Paavo Westerberg and actor Alexander Wendelin to discuss the performance Den besynnerliga eventn med hunden om natten, which will premiere in the autumn.
In the second episode, to be published on 14 April, Jakob Höglund, Artistic Director of Lilla Teatern, and Fanny Twardomanski , Production Manager at Östgötateatern in Sweden, talk about the new Nordic musical project Den nordiska rösten , which aims to find new creators, composers and scriptwriters for the next major Nordic musicals.
New REPLIK! podcast episodes will be published every couple of weeks until June.
