Review: Pekka Töpöhäntä
CAT IN HOT FUR
Big, furry cats stretch and crouch at dawn. Exciting and fairytale-like.
Helsinki City Theatre’s children’s play
Pekka Töpöhännä’s creator should be mentioned first and foremost
Sari Salmela, made the cats’ heads
Pinja Ulmanen and
T
anja Hynninen, who took care of the disguise
Salla Sirén and the choreographer
Javier Torres.
Quite a litany of names, but
In this case, you can’t dive into the world of the stubby created by Gösta Knutsson without mentioning them.
In the play, written and directed by Anneli Mäkelä , the evil Catfish is absolutely wonderfully mean, before the actress
Matti Olavi Ranin has at least opened his mouth. Of course, Ranin is a delightfully slick in her role as well. A bad kitty is not built on fur alone.
Sami Uotila Pekka Töpötail is touchingly silly. The funniest of the children, however, were Pilli and Pulla.
Jouko Klemettilä and
Sixten Lundberg put a smile on the faces of the adults as well.
The recommended age for a children’s play is five years. Judging by the shouts from the stands, the age limit is right. Huge felines can scare the little ones.
However, if your child under the age of 5 is a tough guy, take him or her to the theatre. You rarely see such charming cats.
