Review: Amadeus

Peter Schaffer wrote the play Amadeus in the 1980s, and a few years later came Milos Forman’s award-winning film. Erik Söderblom’s adaptation of the classic drama is made very music-rich – there is a skilled concert pianist and a soprano with a great voice on stage, points for them. Pekka Strang shines in the lead role, as the shivering Salieri, Sampo Sarkola as Mozart and Carl Öhman is the emperor in his place. Special thanks are due to the visual appearance of the performance, including its costumes and lights. There is a treat for the eyes and ears. Even a Finnish speaker keeps up with the rhythm very well.
