The King’s Victory

Beforehand, I doubted: how would The King’s Speech , which is strongly tied to the English language and society and known as a film, be translated into Finnish? Now I know. The Helsinki City Theatre has succeeded wonderfully.

Somehow, I feel that the play directed by Kari Heiskanen is even deeper than the film.

Carl-Kristian Rundman as the stuttering King George VI gives a handsome, touching role, one of his best. Vuokko Hovatta is the delightfully aristocratic Queen Elizabeth and Jari Pehkonen is the funny, fiercely wordy Winston Churchill.
