Roine’s perfect match


Musical. The Fiddler on the Roof musical has a crowd like in a small village, with more than fifty villagers on stage. Still, the entire performance falls or rises with one character, the milkman Tevye. On the big stage of the Helsinki City Theatre, Esko Roine’s Tevye is the moral backbone and warm heart of the play. Tevye must have a sense of humour, strength, masculinity, ease and physical mobility. And you have to know how to sing: the dearest songs are Rich Man If I Would Be and Laskee päivä, tõusee päivä (Counting the Day, Rising Day) by Tevjen.

Under the enthusiastic direction of Hans Bendtsson , Roine meets all the requirements. As a singer, Roine may surprise those who have not heard her in musicals and operettas before.

The skills of the large group of performers are wide-ranging, and even the good ones have been allowed to settle for easy solutions. Routine should bring sharpening.
