The role of theatre

Sweden’s most famous playwright, Lars Norén , tackled a peculiar subject in the late 1990s. He wrote a play for Sweden’s three most dangerous prisoners. The play was first seen in prison, after which prisoners were allowed to perform it in theaters around the country. During the tour, it was revealed that two of the prisoners are neo-Nazis.

Kari Heiskanen The intense Pain Point, directed by the Helsinki City Theatre, tells the story of these events. The central question is the artist’s responsibility. What can a playwright perform in the theatre, and are there any forbidden topics that should not be tackled at all? The topicality of the text is very touching. The rise of the far right can be seen all over Europe.
