Review: Tirlittan
Wonderful Tirlittan at the Helsinki City Theatre
Tirlittan flew into the canal, Tirlittan sank, Tirlittan rose to the surface,
Tirlittan breathed.
I remembered Oiva Paloheimo’s (1910-1973)
a pounding song, not much else. That is why the Helsinki
The premiere of the City Theatre’s Tirlitta on Thursday was a wonderful surprise.
A touching, fast-paced, exhilarating and at the same time wistful story of Tirlittan’s
from growing from a stubborn girl to almost an adult, so captivating
a middle-aged mother than an 11-year-old boy to follow the orphan girl’s journey
in the wonderland of men.
Marika Westerling is an apt choice for the role of Tirlittan. He had
Cosette’s role in the musical Les Miserables and he does not disappoint his audience
Tirlittan. It is no exaggeration to say that she sings wonderfully.
There is a lot of humour in Tirlittan. The audience’s laughter sparked
Bone Light Tango when the Bone Light Lady (excellent Riitta Havukainen) and Tirlittan
were happy about the good sides of the fire. Although there is a lot in the play
funny, I wouldn’t take very small children to watch. Leena Havukainen
directed and adapted by the Society can be frightening at times for the family
for the youngest.
