Review: Siiri ja sotkuinen Kerttu
The magic of theatre
When there is a good story, proper direction and skilled creators, magic is created. In the children’s theatre performance Siiri and the messy Kerttu, written by Tiina Nopola, this happened in the foyer of the Helsinki City Theatre.
Without a gesture or even a small signal, the group of children under school age falls silent two minutes before the performance and watches incessantly, attentively and with interest how the messy Kerttu shakes Siiri’s entire worldview – and even at a birthday party.
Careful work, fast-paced but not scary, funny but not fake, and no fake dialogue with the audience. The performance was even of a suitable length and the place was really homely.
