Review: Viivi ja Wagner
PIG LOVES
EVEN IF YOU DON’T WANT TO
Tiina Puumalainen has directed Viivi and Wagner wonderfully in a comic book style.
Unnecessary theatrical realism is gone. Viivi and Wagner go on adventures
in his piggy red home in an extremely cheerful way, and there is no
not just fun. The coexistence of a woman and a pig is not easy, as it is not
even in real life.
Sari Siikander and Risto Kaskilahti are a great couple. Kaskilahti sofa and
The beer-loving pig is endearing. Wagner is not mean, he is just
a comfort-seeking slob who feels a deep antipathy for a vacuum cleaner
.
Viivi isn’t too squeamish either. Life with a pig polishes the edges.
The horror humour of the play is represented by Viivi’s mother and father, as well as her grandmother, who
encourages you to start your sex life early and give extensively.
Matti Rasila and Heidi Herala are just the kind of in-laws who are not
I wish for a pig at least. Pia Runnako’s grandmother is hilarious. Hilarious are also
Eppu Salminen and Sanna Saarijärvi as Viivi’s rich relatives.
Wagner casually sells his soul to the devil for twenty euros, and
after that he has a dream of hell where there are no proper people anymore, because
Everyone can go to heaven these days.
However, karaoke in hell is sung. The karaoke scene is the play’s
highlights. But it’s about making sure it doesn’t take too long.
Going like
in the musical
Viivi and Wagner is good entertainment, if anything, intelligent, upbeat and very
professionally made.
Markus Tsokkinen’s pink set design is an overkill. Actually, no human being
You could live in such an environment, but it is suitable for comic book characters.
The music accompanies the life of Viivi and Wagner perfectly. The whole play has
It feels a bit musical, even though the main characters don’t sing a single tune.
Osku Heiskanen’s choreography also works like in a musical.
Viivi and Wagner is also ideal in terms of duration. Two hours is a good time
cartoon characters. In fact, the play could have ended even a little
earlier. The last ten minutes with their nuclear waste containers are useless
stuff. The story should have ended perfectly well with Herala and Siikander’s
boxing match.
But does that hurt in the end. Juba Tuomola’s Viivi and Wagner are
On stage at least as good as in comic books.
Sari Siikander and Risto Kaskilahti are Viivi and Wagner.
