Review: Fanny ja Alexander

Now I know that a theatre performance can be more and more distressing and more and more wonderful at the same time, brilliant at the same time.
Fanny and Alexander are children, but this performance is not for children, so compressively childhood and self begin to crumble in the play. Eero Aho is chillingly good as a bishop and stepfather, Olavi Uusivirta is so completely Alexander and a child that I hardly believe he will be 39 years old again after the performance. I also admired the set design, the costumes, Santeri Kinnunen – well, the whole performance.
