Review: Peppi Pitkätossu
Editors’ recommendation: To the loss of the polar night and the hunger for laughter
Pippi Longstocking has returned to the big stage of the Helsinki City Theatre. But hopi, hopi, at the moment there is only a continuation until the turn of the year.
Pippi is wonderful, and if there is an age limit that must be set, let it be the five recommended by the theatre. But the most important thing of all: there is no upper age limit. Can there be anything more empowering for an adult than a grandstand full of giggling children and a hilarious, anarchistic Pippi on stage? If you don’t have a child of your own, borrow from somewhere or feel free to go with adults.
Before this performance, I also didn’t know that fart humor is not always embarrassing. Not when it is done little and with only a few carefully considered gestures. This was the happiest Pippi I’ve ever seen!
